Creating a Statement Staircase Design: A Blend of Modern Design and Craftsmanship

At TradOak, we take pride in turning client visions into reality through a blend of creativity and expert craftsmanship. Recently, we had the pleasure of working on a project that perfectly encapsulates this approach—a stunning statement staircase for a new client referred to us by one of our long-term customers.

The Challenge

The client’s initial request was to cover the steel staircase in their newly refurbished home with prime-grade oak on the treads, risers, and landings. However, after assessing the property, which featured a sleek, modern design with many contemporary elements, we felt that a different approach might better complement the space.

Our Recommendation

While oak is a timeless choice, we suggested that glass risers, rebated into the treads, would better suit the surroundings. Glass has a way of adding a sense of lightness and sophistication, allowing the staircase to make a statement without overwhelming the space. The client agreed with our recommendation, recognising that oak risers could be visually overpowering.

The Result

After ten days of meticulous craftsmanship, we returned to install the newly designed staircase. The transformation was striking, seamlessly blending modern design with the natural warmth of oak. The client was thrilled with the outcome—so much so that they immediately asked us to measure up for additional work in their office.

We believe that the pictures of this project speak for themselves, showcasing the elegance and style that a well-designed staircase can bring to a home. At TradOak, we’re committed to helping our clients achieve their dream spaces with bespoke solutions tailored to their individual tastes and the character of their properties.
