Traditional Oak and Timber were recommended to me by a builder neighbour, for whom Trad Oak had previously done work. The moment I contacted Trad Oak, good things started to happen, and my search for an oak frame specialist was at an end and my worries were over.

Within two days, Neil and Grant visited my house and looked over my architect's plans for a large oak extension, 20 feet high and of considerable size. They discussed the details with me and soon provided a very fair quote, which I accepted (I had also contacted some other Sussex-based oak frame companies).

There were a number of site visits for discussions, measuring, and sorting out the finer points of the design. The work was carried out in a timely fashion at their yard, the pieces of wood and subsections were delivered, and then erected by Grant and his team with the aid of a huge crane that came down from London.

The oak frame extension, plus mezzanine, was completed four months ago, some five months after Trad Oak had finished their part and all the follow-on trades had completed theirs. The finished work continues to attract the most positive comments from visitors to the house, and no one is happier than me, the homeowner.

Oak frame construction has a beauty of its own, both in the sturdy beams and in their layout. It is a joy to see such craftsmanship every day. I would definitely contract Trad Oak again. They do not cut corners; they use traditional methods and seasoned oak. They have a passion for what they do, they live and breathe oak, and above all they are friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and professional.
