Air dried oak is an extremely durable material, and when it’s used to build a garden swimming pool house, the result is a structure that’s both practical and visually appealing. This TradOak project centred on a carefully fabricated oak framed pool house which had been designed to provide shelter for those using the pool, whilst adding a beautiful architectural feature to the garden.
The frame was built using traditional joinery, with each mortice and tenon joint cut accurately to ensure long term strength. Air dried oak naturally moves as it settles, so working with it requires precision and an understanding of how the timber behaves. The structure reflects that skill: straight, perfectly aligned beams, clean connections, and a balanced layout.
Functionally and visually, the frame is a triumph, providing dependable shelter for the pool area as well as a defined focus within the garden, enhanced by its natural character, grain and colour.
Overall, this oak frame is a strong example of practical craftsmanship. It’s built to last, suits its surroundings, and it becomes a feature that adds value to the home and garden. Once our client has added personal and finishing touches, we have been invited back to see the fully completed building. We are looking forward to sharing pictures on a forthcoming blog.
