Behind the scenes – using our Wood-Mizer

Behind the scenes at TradOak

Ever wondered how our oak beams become stunning final products? In this week's blog, we take a look behind the scenes and show you our Wood-Mizer.

This professional sawmill helps us to turn our reclaimed and air-dried oak into everything from flooring to shelves.

It is the main piece of equipment we use at our East Sussex Yard and is fantastic for speed and accuracy.

Throughout the day, the Wood-Mizer can be used to cut and shape up to 700mm x 8.6m beams.

This machine allows us to do our work as accurately and efficiently as possible

Wood-Mizer specifications

Since 1982, Wood-Mizer has brought personal and portable sawmills to people all over the world.

Engineered for performance and quality, Wood-Mizer offers a complete line of sawmills. Stationary or portable, manual or hydraulic, standard or wide, monorail or twin rail.

Our Wood-Mizer is an LT40 with a large diesel Kuboto.

This allows us to cut with accuracy and precision.

The machine is fully adjustable and able to cut with millimetre precision. As the calibration is digital, this allows for continuous cuts as well as easy re-calibration.

The bed has clamping facilities to hold the beam in place as well as rollers, allowing us to manoeuvre the beam once on the bed, even rotating it 90 degrees if necessary.

The lifting arms to the side allow the saw to lift the beam onto the bed itself if needed.
